I enjoyed this so much. Horatia Cavendish is a tomboy that believes she will never marry. She loves to ride her father's stallion, The General, when she knows she shouldn't and in men's clothing. Her father, Colonel Cavendish, has about given up on making a lady out of her. On one of her outings, she finds an injured man and takes him to an old abandoned building, masquerading as a boy. It was lucky for the baron for he was attacked on his way to his ancestral estates. If Horatia hadn't rescued him, he would have died there in the snow. Guy Truesdale has been raised on the continent in France. His father, the old baron, fled England after a duel over a woman where he killed a man. He married in France and produced a son. His one dream is for his son to go back to England and reclaim his land and titles. He sends money to the estate manager and relative to keep the estate in order. Over the years, however, the estate has gone to ruin. Guy is befriended by John Haldane, Earl of Strathairn, a very handy man to have on your side as he rescues Guy more than once from attackers. It is a mystery why Guy is being attacked on all sides from London to the estate in the country. He thinks it is his cousin, the only other person who could inherit the property, but the cousin is also Horatia's godfather, and she swears he is a good man. They run into one problem after another and a nice mystery unfolds along with a great romance. It takes you back and forth between the characters. You cannot figure out who the bad guy is until the end. I loved this story. It was an exciting read and being Regency was right up my alley. I give this mysterious Regency romance five out of five stars. I urge anyone with interest in this type of story to read it. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it myself.

Review by Linda Hays-Gibbs 3/29/13 Of Bound by Lies by S. E. Gilchrist Aileen, a Fomorian is in lust for Ioducus, King of the river pixies but they parted years ago. She has made a prosperous life for herself since he last saw her. She has worked hard and made her land the envy of all. Ioducus comes to visit after haunting dreams that keep him sleepless and frustrated. When he sees Aileen's son, he is struck by the likeness of the boy to himself. Aileen sparks hot passion. He suspects something is not right. Aileen is afraid of a womanizing pixie king. She thinks he only wants to steal her son, if he guesses the truth. She has betrayed her people and the pixie king. She was told they were horrible and cruel to people who betrayed them. Her fears escalate but so does her lust for Ioducus. The story is really scorching hot and interesting. It held my interest. Aileen is stubborn and proud and determined. Ioducus is charming, witty and lustful. He is determined to seek revenge on this woman for her lies. I enjoyed the tale very much and give it five stars out of five. I look forward to more pixie tales. Linda Hays-Gibbs

I wrote a previous review of Halo of the Damned but I wanted to revise it. I didn't do it justice , so here is the revision. Halo Of The Damned by Dina Rae I wrote this review a while back and since it was my first review I think it does not do the book "Halo of the Damned" justice. I truly am weak as a reviewer here so, I want to do an update. I think that "Halo of the Damned" is one of the best Horror books I have ever read. The Evil Empire run by Andel, an angel that fell from grace when they went to war against God, is a very bad fellow. He has the life on earth we only dream of as expensive car and house and everything that money can buy is his but, he never gets to see heaven again and he fears going back to his home. . . Hell! He is enslaved to his thirst for blood and his fear of living again in Hell. He runs his advertising agency and kills people to satisfy his appetite not only for blood but for flesh as well. He devours his own daughter and feels no remorse, he is a psycho animal of the worst kind but he keeps you interested. Johanna returns from prison to live with her sister and her daughter and goes to work for Andel. She is sharp and on her way up the corporate ladder but things start going wrong. She finds that her mother that recently died left her some very strange artifacts. Her sister and Maria her niece help her unravel the mystery of all that her mother has kept hidden from her own daughters to keep them safe. It is woven together with such expertise that it keeps you on the edge of your seat but it does more than that, it systematically reveals things that help the girls to stay alive. I love the character Andel, he is evil to the max and quite the fellow. You feel for him and his quest to have his own empire. Johanna and her sister and the little girl Maria have some extraordinary powers of their own and they have a battle on their hands. I don't want to give any more of the book away but only to say that I love it. It is well written and the characters are full fleshed people that you come to see as alive. Even the little girl Maria has her very own personality and poise. I know that a sequel is in the works and I can hardly wait. Don't read this book if you are alone, or if you are terrified of creatures of the night, and do not read this book if you don't want to terrified of new creatures that roam our day light world as well as the night. It has a totally different view of vampires and the powers of demons or fallen angels.. .and religion of angel worship. It is a very good structured horror book and maybe someday a movie. It would make a great one. I throughly enjoyed this book and I had to give an update as my previous review just did not do it justice, sorry Dina Rae, I hope this is better. My daughter told me that she could write better than me so I had to fix it and save myself. I do hope this is much better. Five Stars out of Five, Excellent Horror

Fly Away Peta By Juanita Kees Review by Linda Hays-Gibbs Fly Away Peta is a sweet romantic tale of second chances. Peta was in love with Jaime Caruso and because of family interference they lost each other. It was brutal for both of them. It is ten years later and Peta had her daughter, Bella kidnapped by her estranged abusive husband. She is back in the town where her first love lives and her brother Mark arranges for Jaime and Peta to see each other again amid all the turmoil that Peta is experiencing. Peta is a famous singer and entertainer. Jaime wants to help and they find their past is still alive. They want each other but trust is a big issue even though there is a wild attraction. Will they be able to overcome all the issues and pains of the past to try again ? This is a very well written story with character depth and personality disorders . Peta must not deny her love. She displays her courage but still has to believe in her feelings. Jaime must be able to stand up to his parents and acknowledge what he truly wants and needs in his life. Peta must decide to stop running away from her problems and face them. Together they must defeat Paul, the abusive husband, she should never have married. They must rescue Bella and decide her future. I like the idea of renewing a past love. There are many trials to Peta's story but I believe it is well worth the read. I think it an enchanting tale and give her five stars for a job well done. Definitely something to read. Review of A Hint of Frost By Hailey Edwards Paranormal Romance 478 pages In a different kind of world where there are fanged people with venom and people have spinnerets to weave from their fingertips, you are intrigued from the start. As I love paranormal love stories, I loved this one. The author gave an escape with fleshed characters you learned to love or hate and a sweet tale of soul mates. I appreciated the vivid pictures of an alien world based on things I had not dreamed. I love something different and compelling. I had trouble with the long names for I do not believe I could pronounce them if I tried, but that let you know this was not Kansas either. I really liked this tale of betrayal and love too. Review by Linda Hays-Gibbs of "Killing the Desire" By Leanna Harrow ISBN 978-1-61572-8626 Heat Rating 4 Genre Erotica/Sub Genre Mystery This mystery starts off with a murder. Rose Harlow's mother Rebecca is brutally murdered and her oldest daughter is left to deal with it and her three siblings. Her bitterness against her father and all men make it very hard for her to admit to any feelings other than rage. She is a beautiful hard nosed woman determined to become a lawyer and later a judge to prosecute the bad guys. This character is full fleshed and very human. You find yourself rooting for her all the way. She's a scraper and a survivor. Dave Mason is the mouth watering man that walks into Rose's life as the detective sent to find her mother's murderer. His fascinating green gorgeous eyes and hard body is just too temptable for Rose and she propositions him right off the bat. He complies and they are launched into a torrid love affair. He is all any woman could ask far but then a hint of suspicion hatches and Rose is off on a tangent. I won't give away any more of this engrossing tale. Read it. You'll love it. This story is captivating with great characters and a heated and hot heroine. It may make you want to turn the air conditioner on, even in winter but its a moving tale of discovery too. I loved it. I give The author five stars out of five and await the next story with great anticipation. 03/01/13 Review of Sea Scoundrel, Knave of Hearts by Linda Hays-Gibbs Author:Annette Blair Patience has everything but patience. Her red hair for her hot temper and her small perfect figure and features made Captain Grant insane for her at first sight. She has her hands full with her four charges Sophia, Grace, Angel and Rose. Patience is charged to take them to England from America and find them aristocratic husbands. They set sail on the trip to America and a great many things happen. Not the least is the sprouting friendship between the Captain and Patience. Patience finds the Captain fascinating and very lustful. By the time they reach England neither wants to say goodbye but they do. The other girls are pursuing other gentlemen but all want to be presented in London. Their first ball is a fiasco and Patience has to find a way to restore their good name. She must get her aunt Harriet to come to London and vouch for them. Grant falls more in love but will not acknowledge it. The story is a hilarious and romantic sexy tale. I loved the rapid pace and the interesting plot. Both of the stars had to forgive people from their pasts so they could find love. It was exciting and powerful. I enjoyed the characters personalities. The Captain seemed to have three personalities but I think Patience loved them all. It was different and I zipped through it though it was long, I wished there was more. I give it Five stars out of Five. I can't wait to read the next installment.

Review by Linda Hays-Gibbs Of Autumn Leaves By Barbara Winkes With Eternalt Press This is an alternative lifestyle romance between two people who overcome huge obstacles for their happily ever after. I found the characters full fleshed and complete with their own fears and in depth analysis of their directions. The problems that face Rebecca Lowman seem insurmountable, at least the ones of which, she is aware. With two children and her husband, David she thinks she is satisfied at least settled for the rest of her life. She doesn't even realize that she has settled for what was expected of her. She doesn't argue or defend herself or her choices because one seems as good as another until a young writer moves in across the street from her. It was like a bolt out of the blue when Rebecca meets Callie. They try to deny it, hide it, and run from it, but their love will not let them. Finally, they must confront it, along with their fears for Rebecca's family and the humiliation and censure from the Autumn Leaves' community around them and even her own church friends. A crisis involving Callie makes Rebecca realize that her life has drastically changed and she must face the consequences of her actions and make a commitment. The only thing that is not given up by Rebecca is Callie, as all else seems lost. Tragedy strikes but they hold on to each other and weather the storm. The happily ever after was extremely satisfying. I loved the plot, the conflict and the growing experience that both women had for very different reasons. A very tastefully done portrayal of this story. I give her five stars out of five for an engaging love story between two women from very different worlds.

Feb. 18, 2013 Review by Linda Hays-Gibbs for Scandal at Half Moon Street by Vivian Roycroft Ernst Anton Oldenburg, His Grace, the Duke of Cumberland seems a most accomplished rake but all is not what it seems. He is quite delicious and full bodied and fleshed. His character is all together enchanting and terrifying. He has the power to accomplish about anything he wishes. His wishes are the challenge. The Honorable Anne Elizabeth Henrietta Kirkhoven, youngest daughter of Baron Wotton of Boughton Malherbe, Kent is this rake's next victim. She is totally innocent except for her heart wrenching love for a writer/barrister named, Frederick Shaw. Her mother vows she will not wed him but looks higher. The Duke of Cumberland pursues Anne. Her mother realizing the rise to glory his person could be for her daughter and family encourages the suit. Suddenly, she sees that in His Graces' smile all is not as it seems and tries to disengage from the fiasco. However; the folly is seen and tongues start to wag. Mrs. Wotton is too late to stop the progress the Duke sets in motion The descriptive phrases are delightful. I found myself amid an enchanting world of 1812 England. The plot was a mystery until the end and was very exciting. How all this could be accomplished by one man was mystifying. I found the characters had pride, honor and a deep sense of purpose. I throughly enjoyed this story. It weaves an enchanting tale of love and romance. I would recommend this story to anyone that loves this time period and enjoys an escape into that world of long ago England. I give this tale five stars out of five, an excellent piece of work. 03/03/13 Review of Mystical Love By Linda Hays-Gibbs Author: Stephy Smith Genre: historical romance Rating: Four Stars This was a very innocent story of new love. This is a different perspective for me in the world of the Rom or gypsies, however it is also in a bygone era. I was somewhat confused about gypsies being in East Texas in 1870. I know that maybe they could be but I never heard of this before this story. I felt like I was in a very innocent tale but the harsh problems that Aisley faces are really severe. She loses her parents in a gruesome manner and has to face the world with the man she loves, Sam Grey. It could have been a very moving story for teenagers but its not really for adults. Though it moved me, it wasn't smooth. It felt a little stilted and didn't feel like it flowed as smooth as it could. The idea of a different kind of lifestyle was intriguing keeping me reading, but it was so terribly innocent in places. I know the author has talent and unique ideas but it wasn't my kind of tale. I applaud her effort and imagination. I think this could be a very interesting story for young adults. I just found myself uncertain in my concern for these characters. You knew what the ending would be but you wanted more. I would love to read more of her work of a different sort. I applaud her efforts and thank her for the chance to review her work.

Review of The Scottish Witch authored by Cathy Maxwell Review by Linda Hays-Gibbs This is a story within a story. The beginning in 1632 has a jilted Rose of Macnachtan brooding over her lover who has left her with a baby in her belly after he hand fasted her to marry an English heiress for his family. Charles Chattan has no idea the evil unleashed on him and his family to come. Rose's mother, Fenella is a witch and she curses Charles after her daughter kills herself and jumps into the funeral fire with her daughter. That was not the end for every generation of Chattan's die as soon as they fall in love. Next we are in 1814 and a Portia Maclean, who is taking care of her mother and sister in a poor rundown house with leaks in the roof. Portia goes to empty the buckets of rainwater in the attic and finds a very strange cat and a book if spells with Fenella's name on it. A frantic Colonel Harry Chattan is searching for a way to break the curse and save his older brother who has fallen in love and is dying. He begs everyone for a witch to help him. Portia needs rent money and when she hears he is offering a lot of money she decides to pretend to be a witch. However; when he kneels before her and begs her to take his life so his brother can live she falls in love. Portia hid her identity and thought her secret safe but he finds her out. Portia's sister Minnie is in love with Oliver Tolliver and she assists her sister to have her man. Chattan saw her efforts and realizes his heart falls a little for her, as she is so good and kind. He follows her and becomes enchanted. He tells himself he will never fall in love but he is under her spell. This is an exciting and lovely tales, especially if you like witches and magic with a lot of romance. I loved Portia and her glasses with her determination to help everyone but herself until she finds herself in love. I love Harry and his selflessness for his family and his stubbornness. They make a lovely pair but they still have a curse to contend with and hope to save their family. This was a beautiful Scottish tale of magic and love. I felt like I was there witnessing Fenella in her rage. I could not stop reading it. I give it Five stars out if Five . It was a pleasure to read. Review of The Bedeviled Heart, Book Two of the Highland Heather and Hearts Scottish Romance Series authored by Carmen Caine Review by Linda Hays-Gibbs Kate Ferguson is a spirited lass with a heart of gold. She meets a charming outlaw at one of the taverns while selling supposedly charmed rocks. The outlaw is the famed Cameron, Earl of Lennox, the Dreaded Earl of Death. He is enchanted by Kate and falls for her charms almost immediately but since he has married seven times and lost all wives to death he vows to protect Kate. He will not have her die because he loves her. Court intrigue with King James lll and Thomas Cochrane, the mason lead to extreme measures and Cameron tries always to protect his Kate and her endearing father. He tries to hide them away from Thomas but he finds them and takes his Kate. The Prince, John Stewart is also taken and killed by Thomas. The search for Kate is extensive but she has disappeared. Cameron is distraught and out for blood. Finally with his nobles behind him and the help of his friend the Earl, Julian Gray he finds her at last but she is large with his child. They still must battle this murderous Thomas Cochrane and the King but I will leave the rest of the tale. I've already gave too much away in this charming story I loved. The characters are so real and fleshy that you feel you know them personally. The plot is exciting with just the right amount of history. You feel like you are there. I could not put it down or stop until I had consumed it. I loved this story and must read her other books. I give her Five Stars out of Five. It was brilliant. However, her mother likes the young Duke and would love to see a match between them, but Grace is sure he would never care for her. They are always sparring when they meet but are polite. Grace spies a man she is attracted to at a ball and it seems the man is taken with her, too. Shipley is an Earl but Ewan does not think he is suitable for Grace. In fact, he is sure that Shipley is a worse rake than he and is out to ruin Grace. Suddenly, he feels very jealous of this union and speaks to Grace's mom about letting him chaperone. He becomes quite green with jealousy. This is a delightful story of romance and love with sweet characters and some humor. I loved the characters and the conflict. It lets you escape the cynical lives of the bored ton and find two people that are meant to be together. I enjoyed this delightful story and hope to see more from this author in the future. He realized there was only one way to secure his claim to Caerwyn castle, marry his cousin. The problem was he was a traitor with a price on his head if he left Wales he could be killed but he loved Caerwyn more than his life. First he rode everywhere looking for this lost cousin only to find her being auctioned off by her brother at another estate as the Jewel of Kinfairlie for she vowed she would not wed anyone she did not love. Her brother Alexander must have her wed or starve. He is broke and has five sisters. Rhys out bids all the men there to take is prize. Her brother is not so sure of his plan. Lady Madeline's heart is not for sale and she vows to run away. A kindly servant offers to help her so they ride for days then he stops and tries to have his wicked way with her. She is terrified and tries to fight. Rhys shoots him with an arrow and saves his woman that he paid for. She thinks he will take her home but he is headed for Caerwyn with all haste to secure his claim. They stay at an Abby and he has a priest marry them. He has her to make sure she cannot have the marriage annulled. His only thoughts were for his estate but somewhere along the way he notices her beauty and wit, her honor and truthfulness. Madeline finds the terrible man grows on her. He has protected her and saved her life. He is also gentle and kind when he wants to be and she is falling for him. The many secrets that is Rhys will not be given to Madeline no matter how many times she asks. He knows that her family is trying to catch them and he is racing for Wales so he can keep his bride. Rhys gives her a sleeping potion to shut her up but it's too strong and almost kills her. He finds he cannot live without her and not just to secure Caerwyn. He vows to tell her all if she will just be well. She awakes and he confesses all his schemes and that they are running from her family. Madeline is livid and vows to annul the marriage. She loves him but must leave him. Rhys sees his home has new visitors so he tells Madeline to wait for him to see what has happened. His step mother has thrown his mother in the dungeon and asked a neighbor to take Caerwyn so Rhys won't get it. They throw Rhys into the dungeon too. He thinks all is lost because he knows Madeline will flee and no one cares for his mother and he. Madeline convinces her family to help, swims up the sewage drain, kills a guard and gets the key to let out Rhys and his mom. They all fight gloriously and we have a great happily ever after. I know this is a lot about the story but believe me when I tell you there is so much more. It is a high adventure with a great many Scottish tales thrown in the mix. There is a little magic and a Fairy Fey in there too. It was completely enchanting. I loved the story. The characters are strong and interact fabulously. There were some typos but it did not take away from the story for me. I give her Five stars out of five for a great read. I would love to read a sequel to this book. Good work!      Ionie Gifford is a reporter for a newspaper. She is smart cunning and a biracial beauty. She is covering a string of murders for a story in her newspaper. Her world consists of humans and others. The others are vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters, fairies, angels and etc. She thought she knew all about her world in this futuristic Detroit and only wanted the next big story. 

     When she meets Jarrid she is not prepared. Jarrid is a Nephilim, a half angel. He takes her breath away.

     Her best friend and boss JP is a werewolf with five Great Danes and her boss. JP tells her about the half angel wanting to help with the story she is covering. The story is nothing compared to Jarrid. He is a giant of a beautiful man just perfect.  He knocks her socks off. She craves him like a starving man does a steak but he seems afraid of her.  

       Jarrid belongs to The Order and is a virgin. 

     The Order  consists of four Nephilim and one full angel with burned wings. The are heaven's assassins. They have no time for love but this little reporter is so feisty and brave they all care for her. However;  Jarrid is in love.

He tries to deny it but it is too strong even for a giant Nephilim.  The problem is Jarrid must use her as bait to lure the fallen angel or renegade out of hiding. He is their way back into heaven. He must die but being a full angel and evil he is very powerful. Jarrid vows to protect his bait never thinking he would fall in love with it, with Ionie.

   This is a very different kind of story. I enjoyed the personality of Ionie. She is a hard nosed reporter with a heart of gold.  She tries to be brave and strong and stands her ground. She has the hots for Jarrid right off. He does have feelings for her but he has no clue what to do with them. Ionie has to seduce an angel and it was an interesting scenario.

     I was hooked from the start. I loved the plot and the way the book moved. I was pleasantly surprised by several points and turns to this fascinating tale. Jarrid captured my heart and I found myself rooting for Ionie. Their characters were full of personality and flavor. The rest of the Angel Squod: Cain, Tanis, Nesty and Kas all became your friends. The nasty vampire Saul was an evil opponent as well as Beleth the renegade. It was a powerful story. I had not a clue to the ending and I won't spoil it now. Great job Tricia.

I give her Five Stars out of Five. I really enjoyed it.

    It is near Paris in 1285

and it is a hard life.  Sybille is at her father's castle tending to it and her three young brothers. Her parents left for Paris with her four other brothers weeks ago and have not returned. There is only two old knights left for protection and she have no money for food.

     Eustache is a black knight with a fearsome reputation, a veritable mountain of a man. He thunders to the castle on his charger with his knights and shows the two poor old retainers his papers. Then he promptly kills them.

     Sybil's hides her brothers and tries to flee but is caught. She had on chain mail while she was teaching her brothers to fight. He thinks she is a man and threatens her life. 

     She admits that she is the woman he seeks for his papers says he owns her father's castle and her.

He has come to marry her. She will not let him claim her until they are wed and demands he show her respect.

     This is a sweet fantasy of that time. It sucks you in from the first. I enjoyed the tale and wish there was more. I read it very quickly and wanted it longer.

I hope to read more from this author and soon.

     I give her five stars out five for a very fine read.

    This is a delightful story of romance and love with sweet characters and some humor. It lets you escape the cynical lives of the bored tun and find two people that are meant to be together.

     I enjoyed this delightful story and hope to see more from this author in future. I enjoyed the characters and the conflict.

I would have loved to have it a little longer as these characters are most endearing. Maybe there could be a sequel. 

     I gave her Five stars out of Five only because it was a great read.

Surely next story will be longer and even better. Good luck with your writing.
